Health & Wellness
Culturally safe health education – in your language, using your foods, with your community.
Getting health information that actually fits your life shouldn't be hard. At CCRBH, our Health & Wellness programming is designed by and for Black and racialized communities — covering the conditions that affect us most, using the foods we actually eat, delivered in a space where you can ask real questions without judgment.
Why We Do This
Too often, health information doesn’t account for who we are. Generic advice ignores our cultural foods, our histories with healthcare systems, and the conditions that disproportionately affect Black communities — like diabetes, sickle cell disease, high blood pressure, and Alzheimer’s/dementia.
We don’t ask you to leave your culture at the door. We build from it.
What We Cover
Nutrition & Cultural Foods
Learn how to support your health without giving up the foods you love. We answer real questions with guidance from registered dietitians.
Chronic Disease Management
We cover conditions that affect our communities at higher rates: diabetes, heart disease, sickle cell, and dementia.
Dementia & Brain Health
Learn the difference between normal forgetfulness and early warning signs, and how to support a family member who may be affected.
Mental Health Literacy
Mental health is health. We offer accessible education on stress and emotional wellbeing, with warm referrals to community supports.
Healthcare Navigation
Not sure how to advocate for yourself at a medical appointment? Confused by referrals and wait times? We can help with that too.
