Our five program areas
  • Health & Wellness
  • Social Connection

  • Digital Inclusion
  • Everyday Preparedness

Role 01

Community Service Worker

$17.60/hr 30 hrs/week 9 weeks Starts ~ June 2

You'll be the welcoming face of CCRBH programs by helping participants feel comfortable, supported, and informed from the moment they arrive or log on. A front-line support role across all five of our program areas.

What you'll do

In the room

  • Welcome participants at in-person and online sessions; help them sign in and walk through the session plan in plain language.
  • Set up and clean up - chairs, name tags, tables, handouts, refreshments.
  • Keep program supplies organized so everything's ready for the next session.

Helping people connect

  • Help seniors and newcomers join Zoom: share links, troubleshoot mute/camera basics, make sure no one gets left behind.
  • Send reminder calls, texts, or emails to registered participants using existing templates.
  • Listen for questions during sessions and pass notes to the ED or Program Coordinator.

Capturing what matters

  • Help participants complete short feedback forms and collect them in an organized way.
  • Record attendance on sign-in sheets or simple digital forms.
What you'll learn
By the end of placement, you'll have built real communication skills across different groups - seniors, newcomers, youth, and people navigating health or financial challenges. You'll understand how health, social connection, financial literacy, and emergency preparedness work together, and what it looks like to support programs in a Black-led, community-based organization.
Skills you'll develop
Communication Collaboration Digital skills Adaptability Community engagement Problem-solving
Supervision & support
You'll report directly to the Executive Director. Regular check-ins - message, phone, or in person - cover what needs doing, answer your questions, and make sure nothing feels confusing. You're not expected to already know how nonprofits work. We'll show you, step by step, with clear instructions, templates, and examples.
Role 02

Administrative Assistant

$17.60/hr 30 hrs/week 9 weeks Starts ~ June 9

You'll keep the behind-the-scenes work running - organizing participant records, coordinating workshop logistics, preparing materials, and supporting the Executive Director. This role keeps CCRBH programs organized so facilitators can focus on the community.

What you'll do

Records & data

  • Maintain CCRBH's participant database — contact info, attendance, and consent records for workshops and Seniors Circle gatherings.
  • Enter registration details from intake forms (training provided).
  • Update records after each session with attendance and basic notes.
  • Run quality checks — spotting duplicates, missing phone numbers or emails — using simple checklists.

Workshop logistics

  • Schedule Zoom meetings, send calendar invites, confirm room bookings, prepare sign-in materials.
  • Maintain a shared program calendar of upcoming workshops and events.
  • Print and assemble participant packages using existing decks and handout templates.

Office support

  • Respond to basic phone and email inquiries; route detailed questions to the ED.
  • Help prepare materials for monthly Board meetings.
  • Compile simple monthly statistics from existing templates.
What you'll learn
You'll build hands-on experience with digital tools, data organization, and office coordination in a real nonprofit setting. You'll learn how administrative work directly supports community programs — and why accurate records matter for the people we serve. By the end of placement, you'll have practical skills to describe confidently in interviews and on your resume.
Skills you'll develop
Digital skills Communication Collaboration Adaptability Problem-solving Community engagement
Supervision & support
Short daily check-ins with the Executive Director cover what needs doing, answer questions, and make sure nothing feels overwhelming. Early tasks are reviewed closely before you work more independently. Feedback is mostly informal — verbal and message-based — with at least one mid-placement check-in focused on how things are going and what you're learning.
Role 03

Social Services Worker functioning as Volunteer Coordinator

$17.60/hr 30 hrs/week 9 weeks Starts ~ June 16

CCRBH runs almost entirely on volunteers. You'll help coordinate, support, and recognize the people who make that work possible — building the systems that let volunteers show up ready and feel valued.

What you'll do

Recruiting & onboarding

  • Help recruit volunteers through CCRBH's networks — posting opportunities, following up, tracking applications.
  • Make sure each new volunteer receives the CCRBH info package — five-pillar model, confidentiality, code of conduct.
  • Track who has completed orientation; update the volunteer database.

Scheduling & records

  • Maintain volunteer records — contact info, availability, roles, hours contributed.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules for workshops across all five program areas.
  • Prepare sign-in sheets, name tags, and handouts for programs where volunteers are helping.

Recognition & check-ins

  • Help with volunteer appreciation — thank-you email lists and recognition messages drafted by CCRBH leadership.
  • Light check-ins by phone, email, or message to see how volunteers are doing.
  • Collect short testimonials (with permission) about their experience.
What you'll learn
You'll gain practical experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, and nonprofit operations — skills that transfer directly to social services, community development, and HR careers. You'll also see how a Black-led organization builds capacity without a large paid staff, and how to support people from diverse backgrounds in a welcoming, culturally safe environment.
Skills you'll develop
Communication Collaboration Digital skills Adaptability Community engagement Creativity & innovation
Supervision & support
The Executive Director supervises daily, with a Director acting as your mentor for monthly conversations about your experience, career goals, and how to talk about this work in future interviews. A reference letter may be provided at the end of placement, where appropriate.
